Map of "Convenience"
- Who invents this map? A taxi driver in Shanghai.
- Why? Simple! It's because people need it anytime, anywhere.
- Any impact? Drastic! Many publishers rushes to print it out and many people
bought it (according to mainland's People Daily, the first edition with 70,000
copies were sold out).
- This "convenient" tale gives us a positive implication that none in the world is nothing, as long as we have keep the life, keep the world interesting.
- Everything (seemed) little thing matters!
I have just checked the online yellow page, no toilet found! If you do, please specify.

Old news' new
- Blogger.com is supported by Google
- There's another kind of blog, audio-blog, also from Blogger.com
That's http://www.audioblogger.com
Audio-Blog isn't a new technique but a blog with audio files (e.g. mp3). Bloggers doesn't need a computer to make a post, but mobile phone. They just need to dial to a specific number (possible to blogger) and speak.
Yes, I'm not sure whole picture because I don't have a chance to try.
However, in the backend, I believe blogger.com staff paid great effort of hanlding massive phone calls and then add them to blogs. Anyway, I will stay tune of the audioblog movement.
P.S.: I think of a old Commercial Radio programme - "Absence of Driver"

Fly Away
不管留下了多少眼淚堅持下去的動力還在
Nothing I will be afraid
Fly away
不管未來有多困難 我仍然能感覺心跳還在
Nothing I will be afraid
I got lost today because of this & that, but this song have just lifted me up.

That's it! That's human factor!
I do agree Mr. Tong's point of view - people don't want to change. I think
there're 2 main reasons of this:
1. People are afraid that technology replaces their posts.
In my opinion, it's applicable for some mechanic or computing-intensive (e.g. accounting, manufacturing) jobs. However, for other areas, the technology is still too far to reach human's ability. The computing technology is able to predict the weather in one week but it can't predict when or where I will have my lunch tomorrow, not to mention whether it can judge how much the student has learnt.
2. The technology (so-called) doesn't meet our needs.
The goal of applying technology in teaching is to improve the quality of education. However, the fact is teachers feel exhausted to prepare e-materials or even animation effects with Flash (moving particles for Integrated Science, ha!). It can be ironic that students don't realize the hard-work of teachers but criticize the e-materials are too simple ..., anyway, they don't like them. The technology doesn't help.
I think we overestimated the technology. We wrongly believed information technology is everything. The real human-computer interaction is still developing stage. That means we have to pay much effort to computerize our works. And don't forget what educators need to improve is human-to-human interaction, with assistance of technology. Therefore, we have to alter our "traditional" attitude to technology, especially info-technology.
It seems too complicated for me to explain what and how we should make this change, but I'm sure we should understand what actual advantages the contemporary information technology can give. Those adv has already flashed in my mind: Storage and Search.
Massive Storage
That's what bookshelves and papers can never achieve. An harddisk can swallow the whole school library.
Global Search
Internet gives "lives" to storage. You are able to search almost whatever you want to know. (Yes, many areas are yet to be improved but it has been very useful for most people)
Indeed, those 2 advantages aren't those fancy ones people always imagine. Those tools are just a method to extract more source of thoughts. Useful or not? That's not technology decides. Human does.

Technically Practically
I think the reason is Environment. When a kind of technique is placed in an environment, there are possibilities of incapability. The cause of incapability can be anything but I'm sure labour is among the major ones. It can be not enough labour, no labour with specific skills, ... you name it. Imagine an organization wants to build a giant e-dictionary but it has only a few team members available, even though they have software, computers to achieve.
Anyway, discussion helps you to discover something new and reveal something you neglect. Hope to have more in the future. (However, only 1.5 month left ...)

Strange behaviour of the Navbar
This problem often occurs when you post via email from a program thatsends HTMLSo, be careful when adding new posts via Email!
formatted emails. We are working on improving Mail-to-Blogger so that it handles
this case better, but in the meantime, if you post via email, you might want to
set your email client to send plain text emails.
